Mid Illini Power Squadron Wins 2016 Sea Tow Foundation Golden Life Jacket Award!

The Golden Life Jacket Award is given to local heroes in communities across the nation that work or volunteer in the marine/ boating industry and have made a difference in their boating community.

Sea Tow Foundation and Sea Tow Services International are proud of our partnership with the U.S. Power Squadrons and honored to present the Golden Life Jacket Award to the Mid Illini Power Squadron.

.

This award is presented to recognize the hard work and dedication that the Mid Illini Power Squadron members have shown in hosting a Sea Tow Foundation Life Jacket Loaner Station over the 2014-15 year in Central Illinois.

.

Commander Garry Christman has been the main point of contact on this initiative and he completed and submitted an application around this time last year to host a loaner stand as part of the Sea Tow Foundation’s grant from the Sport Fish Restoration and Boating Trust Fund administered by the U.S. Coast Guard.

Mid Illini Power Squadron is being presented with this award because they have provided updates on the loaner station as well as reports throughout the boating season showing that their loaner station has made a true difference in their boating community.

The Mid Illini Power Squadron, chartered in 1975, is located in Central Illinois, and is one of the 16 Squadrons in Illinois, South-East Wisconsin and North-West Indiana.  These 16 Squadrons comprise a group designated as District 20 of the United States Power Squadrons. Nationally, there are more than 450 Squadrons grouped into more than 30 districts.
